Weekday Homily ~ Monday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Readings for today's homily

Though I tried, I didn't make it to the end of the Oscars last night.  But I think that all of us, in a sense, could be given an Oscar as a believer.  Sometimes we only knock ourselves down.  Today, in the Letter of Peter, perhaps we can lift ourselves up because we can identify with his description of a believer as he says:

"Although you have not seen him you love him;
even though you do not see him now yet you believe in him,
you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,
as you attain the goal of faith, the salvation of your souls."

Yes, we believe.
