Setting
our goals high is what we’re always encouraged to do. Set the bar high and strive to achieve. If we fall short for whatever reason, at
least we tried – and tried hard.
Success
in life and relationships doesn’t come easy. We all hope prayer, patience, and persistence
will carry the day for us, along with Sunday dismissal encouragement: “Go in
peace, glorifying God with your life.”
Of
course, glorifying God doesn’t just happen with success. It comes with the attempt and a “no-sour-grapes”
attitude if things go wrong.
Here’s where
our ability and willingness to adapt to sudden, unanticipated events are important.
Chance and happenstance often rule our lives, and we must be prepared for the
unexpected [like Noah in the cartoon].
Sometimes
we think we’re part of God’s plan and the blueprint is fixed. Not so.
It’s far better to assume the Holy Spirit is with us helping us to chart
our own course and make wise decisions.
Daily, God is "breaking the news to us" - the Good News. That news is "what we are made for." More than we might think: to have the courage to do what is necessary when the unexpected strikes, be it illness, death to loved ones, financial difficulties, etc. The Good News is: "Be not afraid; the LORD is with us" helping us deal with "more than two of every fish."
