What is He Asking of Us? ~ Msgr. Daniel F. Hoye

Homily for Tuesday in the Octave of Easter
Readings for the day.

Easter continues to be celebrated today and we hear from John's Gospel; another story of the empty tomb.  In John, it's Mary Magdalene who is the first witness to the Resurrection.  There seems to be something different about the body of Jesus because He speaks to her but she doesn't recognize him and thinks he's the gardener. Then Jesus pronounces her name, Mary.

Maybe you and I can use our imaginations to picture ourselves in the garden and then hear Jesus call our name.  What is Jesus saying to us?  How is He encountering us?  What is He asking of us?
