RCIA To Begin

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is about to start again.  Actually, it never stops; we just have a set schedule helping us keep on track and provide some structure for those wishing to become Catholic or for Catholics who haven’t received First Eucharist or Confirmation.

Last Monday we held a “Welcome/Information” session, and never knowing how many will arrive, we were pleased to welcome a Falmouth lady ready to learn more about Catholicism with her intention being to convert.

Her first lesson (one of 12) is scheduled for this Monday at 7 pm after which she will attend 10:30 Mass on Sundays to hear the Word and the homily, then to be dismissed accompanied by a prayer, song, and an understanding that all parishioners are welcoming, encouraging, and praying for her.   That’s the beauty of RCIA with all parishioners reflecting on their own faith when witnessing and experiencing her faith journey.

With the RCIA team prepared to “Break Open the Word,” during Mass we will gather in a room above the parish office to share and explain our faith.  Getting to know her and support her is our task – a great joy!   The team, led by Tony Agostinelli, consists of Don Chabot and David Laird, including me.

So, be prepared to meet Helen Malinowski and her husband Steven over these next six months or so.  She and Steven will be weekly visitors to Christ the King where they will be warmly welcomed.

And, by the way, it's not too late to inquire and consider if Catholicism is for you.  Some in the pews and on this website now may not be Catholic, but may be interested in learning more.  There is no commitment.  I say this from experience.  I sat in the pews for about 15 years before deciding to try RCIA.   Now, here I am - a deacon.  Who knew?

Give the office a call for more details.   Deacon Bob Lemay will assist (508-477-7700 x 13).
