ALL THINGS CATHOLIC

These last few weeks, I've had a lot of time sitting around, trying to find things to do between my walks. I haven’t been able to drive or do any heavy lifting but one thing I can do is sit in front of the computer. Sometimes maybe a little too much. One of my interests is surfing all things Catholic, especially the Vatican and Pope Francis. Isn't it interesting that we tend first toward things  that are important to us, but secondly, to winners. The Red Sox lost me this year but hopefully the Patriots continue winning, all the way to the Super Bowl.

Pope Francis is a winner. He is a person who relates to people. He is humble and yet strong in his beliefs. He sees a more compassionate and inclusive Church. People love a winner and Pope Francis is definitely a winner. Another winner is a website I found.

The website is called “CRUX, Covering all things Catholic,” a site that just started a couple of months ago. It explores news and issues of the Catholic Church, faith, spirituality, and Catholic lifestyle. It focuses on how the news from the Vatican and the words and actions of Pope Francis affect both Catholics and non-Catholics worldwide.

According to Crux, it approaches coverage from a journalistic point of view rather than one of advocacy or evangelism. "Crux is not just about the Church, but about life and faith," said David Skok, Boston Globe Digital Adviser. "Our goal is to make the site as inclusive as possible. It is journalistic above all else, so we are not coming at this with any ideological bent." They strive to appeal to a broad range of Catholics and readers of all faiths who are eager to explore spirituality in general.

One of the first articles I read was “I'm A Catholic Priest - And I'm Married”, an interesting take on an Episcopal Priest who converted to Catholicism. The current issue has several articles on the Synod on the Family currently being held at the Vatican, an article on the Pope and the Nobel Prize, a debate on the Shroud of Turin, prayer in schools, and many other interesting and thought-provoking articles. It’s worth a look.
