Relatives of Christ

There’s an old saying “You can choose your friends but not your relatives.”  Usually we say that when we have one of those “fringe” relatives that does crazy things.  Well the Gospel today turns that phrase around and says you can indeed choose your relatives.  You can be brother, sister, mother, or father to Christ if we hear the Word of God and try to do the Will of the Father.

How is it that we are being invited to be a relative of Christ today?
