World Priest Day

Tomorrow – Sunday – is World Priest Day.  It’s a day to thank our priests for all that they do, and to thank God for placing them in our lives.  It also serves as a reminder that we need to pray for our priests, and for more priests!

Here at Christ the King, we have been extremely blessed with a terrific Pastor, Msgr. Daniel Hoye.  He is a great leader of our Parish and is a true example of what priesthood is—selfless service to the Lord.  He truly cares for his parishioners and all who worship at the table; offering wisdom, prayerful advice, and guidance to all - especially through his homilies!  In his 9 and a half years as Pastor here, Msgr. Hoye has helped our parish grow in so many ways and has made it clear that we are a very welcoming parish.  His example is an inspiration to all - myself included.  We thank Msgr. Hoye for his dedication and service to our parish!

We are also blessed with the assistance of Fr. Tom Wyndham, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, who helps out with Masses on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.  Fr. Wyndham is full of the Holy Spirit, and enjoys sharing God's love with others and being around our parish—we enjoy having him here!  He is an inspiration to all who meet him, and we are blessed with his presence.  We thank Fr. Wyndham for offering his time and sharing his ministry with us here at Christ the King!

Our priests work very hard to care for our souls, and they are always praying for us.  They enrich us spiritually and make us feel truly “at home” at Christ the King.  On this World Priest Sunday, let us pray for our priests…

Good and gracious God, we come before you today to ask your blessing on our Pastor, Msgr. Hoye; as well as Fr. Wyndham and all priests around the world whom you have called to the Sacrament of Holy Orders.  We ask that you support them with your presence, grant them good health, and fill them with the grace to serve You faithfully.  Unite us in service with those whom you have called.  Open our hearts to encourage more young men to pursue your calling, and open their hearts to hear Your call to this most Holy Sacrament.  Amen.

Let us continue to pray for an increase of vocations.  Our Church needs more young men to answer the call!

This Sunday, make sure you thank your priest for all that they do!
