Brick Walls

"Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. When they take you before synagogues and before rulers and authorities, do not worry about how or what your defense will be or about what you are to say.  For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say."

Here’s an example of how to explain the unforgivable sin.  It’s not mine.  It’s from the internet.

Imagine you are tired of the Holy Spirit convicting you of a particular pet sin. You want to completely remove the Spirit’s promptings even though the voice is warning you of danger and lovingly trying to show you the right path.  So what do you do?

You begin building a theoretical brick wall to block your conviction. Each brick in the wall represents a singular time you reject the conviction of the Holy Spirit. As you continue to reject the Holy Spirit, the “voice” you hear gets softer and softer. You become more and more confident in your current pathway of life. Eventually, as you lay more and more bricks down you cannot hear the Holy Spirit anymore, thus effectively cutting off your way of repentance and therefore salvation.

Not being able to hear the Holy Spirit is caused by our brick-laying and wall-making.  It’s a sort of blasphemy when we shut our ears to the Holy Spirit.

Walls don’t make for good neighbors.  Let’s tear our walls down!
