Drink!

All wisdom comes from the LORD and with him it remains forever, and is before all time.  The sand of the seashore, the drops of rain, the days of eternity: who can number these?  Heaven's height, earth's breadth, the depths of the abyss: who can explore these? Before all things else wisdom was created; and prudent understanding, from eternity. The word of God on high is the fountain of wisdom and her ways are everlasting.

Humankind has accomplished much.   We have explored heaven’s height through cosmology, and we have learned about the unfathomable distance between stars, between galaxies, and to the edge of our seemingly expanding universe.  It all seems like the definition of forever and never-ending.

We know the earth’s breadth and the depth of the abyss.  We even have estimated the number of sands of the seashore.  Such is exploration and the fruits of scientific endeavors.

What we do know through our faith is the word of God and how that word is wisdom.   Our challenge is to listen to and then be guided by the wisdom we attribute to the feminine and the Holy Spirit.   Wisdom is Sophia.  She is the fountain to which we must go and drink deeply.   Otherwise, we thirst and act stupidly, carelessly, arrogantly, and dismissively.

To our government leaders, many of us yell, “Drink!”
