Love You Dearly

“God comes to us disguised as our life (quote from Paula D’Arcy).  But for most ‘religious’ people this is actually a disappointment! They seemingly would rather have church services…God is manifest in the ordinary, in the actual, in the daily, in the now, in the concreate incarnations of life. That’s opposed to God holding out for the pure, the spiritual, the right idea, or the ideal anything. This is why Jesus stands religion on its head…”

The above text is from Father Richard Rohr in his 2008 book “Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality.”   Deacon Bob Lemay reminded me about his book I read about 12 years ago.  Bob and I are Richard Rohr fans.

This Rohr offering is a good and appropriate reflection for all of us as we are denied access to our church building and in-person religious services.  “God is disguised as our life” we should remember.

So, let’s worship by living our lives as we must; for example, by loving dearly.  By this I mean, take the song by the same name to heart. This song was sung by Doris Day in the film April in Paris.  Have a listen by You-Tubing it.
