One Heart And Mind

The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power the Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, and put them at the feet of the Apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.

Thus Joseph, also named by the Apostles Barnabas (which is translated Ason of encouragement”), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth, sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the Apostles. (Acts 4:32-37)

Today’s first reading reminds us of the importance of helping others during these difficult times of loss of employment, closed businesses, no paychecks, and many bills still to pay.  We are part of a community of believers supposed to be of one heart and mind.   Many hearts are broken and many minds are blown by the stress of severe financial difficulties, even ruin, and sickness, perhaps death.

Please continue to donate on-line to the Matthew 25 Fund or to Christ the King on-line giving to help the parish deal with our church’s needs and for the services we provide to the community.
