Evil Spell

Yesterday was Halloween.  I didn't see any witches.  It seems those costumes might be out-of-style.  Nevertheless, these fanciful ladies portrayed in this cartoon still cast spells using bats and eyes-of-newts.

Today there is another ingredient many of us witches and warlocks use in evil ways - Facebook.  Many of us seem to chant:

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Fillet of a fenny snake,

In the caldron boil and bake;

Eye of newt and toe of frog,

Wool of bat and tongue of dog,

Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,

Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,

For a charm of powerful trouble,

Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;

Fire burn and caldron bubble.

Cool it with a baboon's blood,

Then the charm is firm and good.

[from Shakespeare's Macbeth]

Using Facebook, too many of us turn against each other using this spell.  It's well past time to break that spell using Christ as our spell-breaker.  If we don't, then the fires will burn and our caldrons will  bubble like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
