Lent is not too far away. It begins on February 14.
On Ash Wednesday when the priest or deacon applies the cross of ashes, they say to us worshipers: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” He or the deacon also may say “Repent and believe in the Gospel.”
We all hope for another 365 days and much more. Returning to the dust and dirt is not a desirable destination, although it is inevitable. Nevertheless, we wish for many more birthdays, and in the meantime, let's always repent and believe in the Gospel.
